I had some time for some warm-ups this morning and I did some portrait sketches of some people. Although I don’t have much time for sketching for fun daily, I can tell even after a few drawings (in this case I could tell after three) that I have improved a little compared to the past drawings. I would encourage the younger generation of artist out there to get started drawing from life as soon as they possibly can. You probably have more time to draw than I do, and the best way to get good at drawing is to draw people and everyday objects. Set up a still life with a coffee cup, a book, and a lamp. Anything that you draw over and over, will get better and better depending on how long you take on it. Well, I’d rather hear from you about how good you think I’m drawing than boast in myself, so be sure to leave a comment and tell me what you think.

Looks great might be a little out of proportion for that guy on the left but maybe it’s because of the page slanting.

Yes, you’re exactly right. The page is hard to capture in detail without warping some part of the drawing, but hopefully I’ll do better next time!
